Oscar winner Adrien Brody shined recently in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris as Spanish artist Salvador Dali. He can now be seen together with an angel in Paris in a rather unusual situation: he teamed up with super model and current Victoria's Secret angel Toni Garrn, and well-known photographer Ellen von Unwerth for the 2012 Carl Zeiss calendar — Complementing Moments.
Complementing moments stands for addition and close partnership, something that also applies to the interaction between customers and companies. Carl Zeiss built on this analogy in the new edition of its exclusive calendar to express how much it appreciates its customers and partners.
Set against the backdrop of the 1920s, some of the images are accented through the sparing use of color. The guiding philosophy behind the calendar is conveyed via the traditional connection between a man and woman, a connection that takes on a certain twist as the model and actor are seldom seen together as a traditional couple in the photos. Ellen von Unwerth created both unusual and satirical images in which the actor and model convey different aspects of a relationship.
The 2012 Carl Zeiss calendar is the continuation of a budding trend. In the previous calendars in the series, Wim Wenders and Bryan Adams used their skills to capture on film well-known actors. The limited-edition calendar is not available in stores. Nonetheless, it has obtained cult status around the world.
